Candida

So the hot and humid weather is here, which is great, but one of the issues we see at this time of year is an increase in fungal infections. Candida Albicans is a fungus which normally lives happily in our bodies in controlled small amounts, however, in certain conditions it can flourish, multiply and become a problem. It favours warm damp areas such as under arms or breast or in the vagina. It is also one of the species that can cause fungal infections of the feet and nails.

Candida prevalence is also linked to pregnancy due to hormonal changes - and many women can experience monthly Candida for the same reason. Candida that cannot be seen is in the digestive system - where it can flourish - causing gas, bloating and fatigue.
