Sandy Watts (Registered Naturopath, Medical Herbalist, Clinical Nutritionist)

Sandy Watts is a degree qualified Naturopath and Medical Herbalist (BNHM), and qualified Clinical Nutritionist (Dip Nutrition), with just over three years of clinical experience.

Sandy enjoys empowering people to pursue and achieve their individual health goals.

During the initial 90 minute consultation Sandy will listen and build a full assessment of your health concerns and goals. This is a thorough, focused, holistic assessment that is all about you. She will then provide nutritional and lifestyle recommendations, and prescribe herbal medicine and/or nutritional supplements, depending on what is appropriate for you. If further testing or referral is called for, she’ll recommend and facilitate this for you.

In today’s busy modern world, we face unprecedented biological stressors which can wreak havoc with our health and wellbeing. Sandy loves helping tired, stressed clients improve their sleep and energy levels, better manage stress, and reach and maintain a healthy weight for them – achieving a healthy, happy life balance.

She’s passionate about gut health, believing that good digestive health is a key factor in becoming and staying healthy, and enhancing personal wellbeing. Sandy also agrees with the view that most, if not all disease begins in the gut. Factors such as stress, medications, alcohol, pollution in the environment, the amount and type of exercise we do, and the food we eat can all greatly impact our digestive health, so a key focus with her clients is to optimise gut health.

Sandy has a particular interest in type 2 diabetes. Naturopathy offers a unique approach which can complement and support conventional care, and significantly improve diabetes control, reducing risk of complications.

As a VLA (Vitality, Longevity and Healthy Ageing Programme) practitioner, Sandy often uses the latest (Quadscan) Bioelectrical Impedance Analysis (BIA) medical device in consultations to design programmes specifically for clients’ individual needs, then tracks progress. The VLA test is quick, painless, and provides body composition measurements, giving insight into important aspects of your health including cellular health and fluid distribution.

Sandy is also an accredited Fitgenes practitioner, enabling her to provide an even more personalised approach, based on your unique genetic profile. Personalised genetic profiling offers profound insight into how your body responds to nutritional, exercise and lifestyle choices. The good news is that gene expression is modifiable, which means our genes are not necessarily our destiny.

Seeing a naturopath in 2012 helped Sandy to make some dietary and lifestyle changes that made a huge positive difference to her health, and also led her to a change of career.

Inspired to learn more, she went on to study and become a naturopath, gaining further insight and knowledge to be able to protect and improve her health, as well as her family’s.

After finishing her degree in 2015, Sandy set up a home-based naturopathy clinic on the North Shore, Uniquely You Health Solutions, from where she still practices, in addition to recently joining the House of Health team.
