Melaleuca alternifolia 100% pure organic tea tree essential oil. Grown & carefully steam distilled in New Zealand.

This is the Australian Tea Tree (see Manuka Oil for the softer, deeper-smelling native tea tree [manuka]) This is the best Tea tree oil I’ve come across – it’s chemical profile (that’s as-the-plant-made-it) is safe and gentle yet very effective, with a wide anti-bacterial and anti-fungal action.

Excellent in wound washes, mixed in to creams etc.

First Nations Australians have a long history of using the tea tree plant for medicinal purposes, of which they still practice today. The earliest written record of its use by First Nations Australians was the Bundjalung people of northern New South Wales who use it to treat wounds, burns, insect bites and upper respiratory infections (REF).

Research on tea tree oil use for specific conditions shows:

  • Acne. Research suggests that topical application of tea tree oil (in a 5% dilution) may help relieve acne.
  • Dandruff.  When added to shampoo, the resultant “tea tree oil shampoo” has been shown to be effective at treating dandruff. Use for at least 4 weeks
  • Athlete’s foot (Tinea). Tea tree essential oil, added to a base cream (1:10 ratio), and applied to the problem area twice daily for one month, has been shown to be effective in reducing athlete’s foot.
  • Head lice. When used in combination with lavender essential oil, tea tree essential oil has been shown to be effective at killing and thus removind lice eggs. This breaks the head lice cycle (CAUTION: do not get near the eyes, do not rub into the scalp).
  • Nail fungus. Fungal nails are difficult to treat, and so far, one study showed tea tree oil (used undiluted, twice daily for 6 months) was more effective than clotrimazole antifungal .as not been shown to be effective in treating toenail fungus.

Can also be used for inhalation for congestion, mucous and coughs.

Use in steam inhalations, oil burners, compresses, foot baths, baths, personal massage blends, creams and lotions NOT TO BE TAKEN ORALLY

CAUTION

While tea tree oil is considered safe for topical application at concentrations < 15% [1], Oral use, or application via ocular, otic or inhalation is not recommended (International Organization for Standardization, 2017).
