Mens Health

When it comes to mens health, women tend to pay more attention than the men themselves.  Men are more likely than women to:

  1. take risks in their day-to-day choices
  2. drink alcohol
  3. use tobacco or other substances
  4. ignore health warning signs

Men are affected by heart disease, stroke, digestive problems, diabetes, cancer, depression, dementia, osteoporosis, just as women are. And because they are men, there are unique issues associated with fertility and the prostate gland, such as prostate cancer and benign prostate enlargement.

Improving Mens Health

Many of the major health risks that men face can be prevented by following a healthy lifestyle. No surprises here: regular exercise, a healthy diet, not smoking, minimising stress, adequate sleep, and reducing or ceasing consumption of alcohol (not more than two drinks a day) and other substances.  Getting regular health checks can help identify problems early, improving outcomes overall.
