DuCane® Kunzea oil 100% pure wild-grown steam distilled essential oil from the flowering branchlets of Kunzea ambigua – also known as White Tea Tree or Tick Bush, from Australia.
A relative newcomer to the aromatherapy trade, this lovely oil shows a lot of the attributes of tea tree oil, but is infinitely more pleasant smelling – with a slight lemon twist to it.
Sharon has found it effective to help get rid of head lice and – added to the final conditioner or rinse of hair wash – to prevent them coming back. It also helps ease the itch associated with these pesky blighters.

Skin Inflammation. Kunzea oil may help soothe irritation of dry skin and aid with healing blemishes. It can also be used for problem skin, such as psoriasis and eczema – best applied when mixed with a base cream.
Aches and pains. The oil has anti-inflammatory properties, which contribute to reducing inflammation and relieving muscle pain. It can also be effective at easing joint pain, so it’s worth using on those arthritic joints.
Nervous tension, stress and mild anxiety. The pleasant aroma of Kunzea oil makes it a good choice in helping to relieve feelings of stress and worry.
Coughs, colds and flu. The innate chemistry of Kunzea oil (a-pinene and 1,8 cineole) give it an advantage when faced with various respiratory complaints. Easing congestion of coughs and colds, runny or blocked nose & sinuses, asthma, bronchial infection. To ease a sore throat, we recommend adding it in a 1:10 ratio to our Sage & Thyme mouthwash, and gargling with 2-3 drops in a small amount of water.
Insect repellent and bite soothing. The farmers named it “tick bush”because they noticed that the cattle that rubbed against the bushes had less problems with ticks! It acts as a mild insect repellent (similar to pyrethrum 25% extract and citronella 40%, but nicer smelling), to help keep away those pesky insects. And of course, if they do get you, applying the oil directly on those bites and stings brings relief (yes, you can use it neat).
Infections. DuCane® Kunzea oil has been tested for its effectiveness against a number of disease-causing bacteria. Kunzea is inhibitor to some species of Streptococcus, Staphylococcus, including S.aureus, and some species of Candida (refs)
Mental Exhaustion: Kunzea has a cooling and refreshing effect as a stimulant it helps combat exhaustion and rejuvenate the spirits.
Note: DuCane® Kunzea ambigua oil is a registered ingredient with the Australian TGA for topicial use for joint pain such as rheumatism and arthritis.
