But help is at hand – we offer the following assessments of hormones and hormone function:

Comprehensive Thyroid Assessment
This is a thorough analysis of thyroid hormone secretion and metabolism, including central thyroid regulation and activity, peripheral thyroid function, and thyroid autoimmunity. This serum test allows the practitioner to pinpoint commonly occurring imbalances that underlie a broad spectrum of chronic illness including unexpected weight loss or troublesome weight gain.

Adrenal Stress and Fatigue
The markers of stress can be assessed using the Adrenocortex Stress Profile. This is a salivary assay of cortisol and DHEA, imbalances of which are associated with ailments ranging from obesity and menstrual disorders to immune deficiency and increased risk of cardiovascular disease. Read more about stress here. Our page on Fatigue can be found here.

Mens Hormone Profile
Analyzing four saliva samples for levels of testosterone over a 24-hour period tells us what it occuring with your hormonal balance over the course of a day. Elevated levels suggest androgen resistance, while decreased levels can result from such causes as hypogonadism, hepatic cirrhosis, lipid abnormalities and aging. The comprehensive profile includes the Adrenocortex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile to reveal how testosterone is influenced by cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin.

Womens Hormone Profile
Analyzing a series of eleven saliva samples collected over a 28-day period for the levels of ß-oestradiol, progesterone, and testosterone, provides insight about menstrual irregularities, infertility, endometriosis, breast cancer, and osteoporosis. The comprehensive profile includes the Adrenocortex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile to reveal how the sex hormones are influenced by cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin. Read about the normal female hormone cycle here.

Oestrogen Metabolism Assessments
Urine or Serum (depending on your presenting health issue) evaluate how oestrogen is being processed in the body. The tests yield clinical insight into many oestrogen-dependent conditions and provide important tools for monitoring dietary, lifestyle and hormone therapies. Read about the normal female hormone cycle here.

Menopause Profile
Three saliva samples taken over a 5-day period determines your levels of ß-oestradiol, oestriol, oestrone, progesterone, and testosterone – mainly used for women who are menopausal. The comprehensive profile also includes the Adrenocortex Stress Profile and the Comprehensive Melatonin Profile to reveal how the sex hormones are affected by the influences of cortisol, DHEA, and melatonin. Read about the normal female hormone cycle here.

Comprehensive Melatonin Profile
We recommend this test when sleep problems do not respond to any of the strategies employed.  This test analyzes three saliva samples for the secretion pattern of the important hormone, melatonin.  An imbalance of melatonin has been associated with Seasonal Affective Disorder, infertility, sleep disorders, and compromised immune function. Read about sleep problems here.

Once we have identified the issue, we will work with you using natural herbal and nutritional therapy to get you back in balance.  Note that we do not prescribe hormone replacement of any kind!  We believe that with the right support your body will do what is is made to do.
