The oral microbiome is identified as one of the major microbial ecosystems in the human body and has the potential to impact our health in various ways.

Dysbiosis in the oral microbiome can have both local effects (e.g., dental caries (decay), periodontitis, gingivitis, oral cancers), as well as systemic effects, which science is increasingly revealing to be related. These are “big player” disorders, such as neurodegeneration, diabetes, cardiovascular disease. TEST PREPARATION INSTRUCTIONS

For accuracy of test results, please adhere to the following instructions:

• WAIT 2-4 weeks after finishing a course of antibiotics
• WAIT 2 weeks after any systemmic anti-parasitic, anti-fungal, or antibacterial agents
• Do not use an antiseptic mouthwash the day before testing.
• Collect your sample as soon as you wake up in the morning, BEFORE drinking, and before cleaning your teeth.
