Map the Microbes in your Mouth with the Oral Microbiome Test.
The oral microbiome is identified as one of the major microbial ecosystems in the human body and has the potential to impact our health in various ways.
Dysbiosis in the oral microbiome can have both local effects (e.g., dental caries (decay), periodontitis, gingivitis, oral cancers), as well as systemic effects, which science is increasingly revealing to be related. These are "big player" disorders, such as neurodegeneration, diabetes, cardiovascular disease. An imbalanced oral microbiome can cause "leaky gums" which research has demonstrated to be a factor in Rheumatoid Arthritis..
Systemic diseases can arise when pathogenic bacteria present in the oral cavity translocate into the gut in the presence of oral-gut barrier disruption. Fortunately, through REestablishing symbiosis in the oral microbiome through dietary and lifestyle changes, many unfavourable symptoms can be reversed.
This test uses quantitative PCR technology to accurately measure and quantify the microbiota of the oral cavity.
Comprehensive Oral Microbiome Test is Indicated in a Range of Common Conditions
Some of these conditions are listed here. But note that the evidence for the role of bacteria in the oral cavity in a range of conditions is growing exponentially.
- Dental caries
- Oral cancers
- Neurodegeneration (Alzheimer’s)
- Rheumatoid Arthritis
- Female reproductive health
- Irritable Bowel Syndrome (IBS)
- SIBO. Excessive problematic oral bacteria are ingested every time you swallow, and may contribute to bacterial overgrowth.
- Skin problems (especially perioral dermatitis)
NOTE: All test results are best delivered by a qualified practitioner in the context of a full health history. You will require a consultation with one of our health consultants to discuss the test results and review in view of your general health and wellness goals, or to your specified qualified health practitioner.
TESTING METHODS USED IN THE ORAL MICROBIOME TEST
- qPCR (quantitave PCR)
