Heavy Metals and Essential Minerals Hair Test

A small sample of hair, sent to the USA, analysed using ICP-MCS to assess minerals and heavy metals.

Hair Test for Heavy Metals and Essential Minerals

Provides useful information for people with:

This laboratory-evaluated hair test for essential and heavy metals provides information regarding recent and ongoing exposure to potentially toxic metals, including lead, mercury and arsenic, and time-averaged status of specific nutrient elements. This noninvasive screening test requires only 2 grams of hair from close to the scalp.

Elements are the basic building blocks of all chemical compounds, and human exposure to them occurs both from natural and anthropogenic sources. Many elements are considered nutrients and are essential for the proper functioning of the body. These are generally divided between macrominerals such as calcium, magnesium, potassium, sodium and zinc, and trace minerals including selenium, iodine, boron and molybdenum.

Conversely, there are a number of elements that are toxic to the human body, interfere with its functioning and undermine health—such as mercury, lead, cadmium, aluminum, and arsenic. These toxic metals have no known physiological functions. They can be toxic to organ systems and may disrupt the balance of essential nutrients. Toxic metals and essential element status can be assessed in urine, blood, faeces and hair.

Hair element analysis is a valuable and inexpensive screen for physiological excess, deficiency or maldistribution of elements. It is not a stand-alone diagnostic test for essential element function, and should be used in conjunction with patient symptoms and other laboratory tests.  Accordingly, when test results are ready a consultation is required to discuss these results in the context of your general health.

A marker of how your body is coping with toxins is provided in the Urinary Organix Test
